Resources

Ready access to up-to date information resources is essential for all nematologists. This section is intended to provide key information on plant-parasitic nematodes in the form of links to relevant websites, research reports and other nematology-related information sources.

Meetings/Congresses

This section gives information about upcoming meetings that may be of interest to nematologists in the region.

Nutrient regulation of the saprotroph to parasite transition in Pochonia chlamydosporia, a soil microbial inoculant for nematode control.

Current Research

Collaborative research projects have been initiated in NIESA with the purpose of meeting the needs of local communities. Results obtained from the projects should contribute towards the development of a practical sustainable management system for nematodes. These results will be disseminated to end users and their uptake will be measured through socio-economic analyses.

The use of Pasteuria penetrans in an appropriate cropping strategy with non or poor host crops for root-knot nematodes
Effect of biological control agents together with cultural practices for management of root-knot nematodes in tomato
Plant parasitic nematodes of cabbage in Embu
Molecular characterisation of root-knot nematodes on tomato
Characterisation of soil nematode communities under different land management systems in Zimbabwe
A survey of entomopathogenic nematodes in Uganda
Evaluation of the existance of intra and inter specific variation using molecular based markers.
Screening of rice seed for Aphelenchoides besseyi
